I'm going to try to start participating in Memory Lane Fridays. Today's topic is your first memory. I have always wondered how much of my early memories is actually memory, and how much is based on the pictures I have seen. Anyhow.
One of my earliest memories was at Christmas. I was maybe 4 or 5 years old. My big brother Shawn told me to wake him up when I woke up so that we could go to the tree together. I clearly remember waking up and thinking "Oh, I better go get Shawn!" and I trotted down the hallway to find him. My other big brother Steve happened to be taking antibiotics at the time, and had to set an alarm to get up and take one at 3 am. He caught me heading down to wake up Shawn and headed me off, tucked me back in with strict instructions about what was an acceptable wake up time. I wonder if Shawn ever knew how lucky he was that morning? He never really liked being woken up.

Hi Shannon! I didn't realize you had a blog, too! I love reading all these "first" memories.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your brother Shawn appreciated your brother Steve's intervention. 3 AM is pretty early, even for a kid on Christmas morning!
Thanks for playing! :-) Hmm. This really makes me appreciate that we generally no longer have to wake up at 3 am for antibiotics. Hooray for stronger drugs! ;-)
ReplyDelete@ Sonya, I didn't!! I succumbed to peer pressure ;)
ReplyDelete@ VA, oh dude. Isn't that the truth.
