Day trip to Victoria

Yesterday we took a family day trip to Victoria.  We were really lucky with the weather, it was sunny and warm and perfect for a ferry ride.

Carter enjoyed watching for sailboats, and at one point we saw a huge group of seals - probably 20-25 of them - all bobbing in the water beside us.

The ferry ride from Vancouver to Victoria is always nice, with lots of beautiful scenery.  I'll spare you the thousand pics I took, and just put this one up.
Thanks to the BC Ferries employees who made this professional looking sign, and picked the wrong where.

Carter had fun with the street performers, and I think they had fun with them.  This man was "very nice. very friendly" according to Carter.

Then we hung out and played on the lawn of the Legislature buildings until dinner.  Much horsing around.

On the ride back to the ferry Carter played some video games and of course I have the ever-present knitting in my hands.  Thanks to my mom for taking a picture of us together, I have hardly any.

And the one thing I didn't get a picture of that I should have was Darren and Carter on the ferry.  Darren says to Carter, "Do you want to play a new game?"   Ok ... close your eyes and reach your arms out to your sides.  Now using your right hand, touch your nose!  Ok, now arms out and walk straight along here to your Mummy, putting your heel to your toe on every step... now do it again, while saying the alphabet!  Carter would definately have been subjected to a roadside suspension at best, but he sure made everyone in the lounge area crack up.

All in all, a perfectly lovely way to spend Mother's Day.  And Carter was the very best behaved 3.75 year old boy in the whole city.
